Chief for Discord

Build in public, with Chief.

Every milestone your agents ship lands in your ship-log channel, your community can suggest what comes next, and you approve the next one from a DM.

Connect a channel to a Chief project and Chief posts there each time a milestone ships, plus a weekly ship log of the week. Anyone in the channel can ask /chief status or /chief shipped to see where the project stands.

Members without a Chief account can suggest milestones with /chief suggest, and every suggestion waits for a project member to approve it. You approve and deny proposals in a DM with Chief, with a confirmation step, and Chief labels every change with your Chief name.

Set it up

You need a Chief account. Each assistant opens the Chief sign-in, where you pick the projects it can see.

Add Chief to your server

Add Chief to Discord from Chief and pick your server. Chief asks to send messages and embeds in the channels it can see, and for your server list so it can confirm the server you picked. It never reads your messages.

What your assistant can do

Ask in plain language; the assistant picks the right tool.

In your channels

list_activity

get_project_status
/chief status shows where a project stands to anyone in a connected channel.

Suggest and approve

propose_milestone
/chief suggest files a milestone proposal. Suggestions from members without a Chief account always wait for a project member.
whats_waiting
In a DM, /chief waiting lists what needs you, with Approve and Deny behind a confirmation step.

Security and permissions

You decide what each assistant can see, and you can take it back at any time.

  • Chief answers /chief commands only. It never asks to read message content, so it can’t see what your server talks about.
  • A channel sees only the project someone with Manage Server and write access in Chief connected it to, and only titles and status.
  • Approve and Deny appear only in your DMs with Chief, always behind a confirmation, and only for your own linked Chief account. A channel never shows an Approve button.
  • In servers with more than 50 members, suggestions start off; whoever connected the channel can turn them on.
  • Changes are labelled with your Chief name and Discord in Chief’s activity feed, never with a Discord nickname.

FAQ

How do I talk to Chief in Discord?

With the /chief command, in a connected channel or in a DM with Chief. Run /chief help to see everything it can do.

Can my community see my private plans?

No. A connected channel sees milestone titles and status for the project you connected, and the ship log shows what shipped. Objectives, definitions of done and everything else stay in Chief.

Do members need a Chief account?

No, to read the ship log, ask /chief status or suggest a milestone in a channel that allows it. Yes, to approve work or see what is waiting on them.

Can someone run work on my code from Discord?

Only you can, from a DM with Chief, after confirming. Suggestions from your server wait for a project member, auto mode never picks them up, and work runs through the Chief relay on your own computer.

Ready to manage your agents?
